After 13 years, Domotex Middle East is returning to Dubai.
From 23-25 April 2024, the trade fair at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will celebrate its revival as the international event for carpets and floor coverings in the Middle East and mark the launch of the annual trade fair platform in this region.
“I am very pleased with our determination and courage to provide a highly attractive platform for the industry in this fast-growing market with promising potential,” said Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director of Domotex at Deutsche Messe AG. The market for floor coverings and carpets in the Middle East is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2 per cent to around USD 14.55 bn by 2030 from USD 8.6 bn in 2022.
"The response to the upcoming event has been enormous," said Ms Wedell-Castellan: "The world's leading trade fair for carpets and floor coverings brings together the industry's 'Big Four', the global market leaders Merinos, Oriental Weavers, Solomon Carpet and Al Abdullatif, at one event for the first time. Many other international brand manufacturers have already announced their participation and want to present their top products and innovations."

The British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the public affairs umbrella body of furniture and beds, furnishings and flooring sector trade associations, has unveiled its new Plan for Growth. The document is said to support BFC’s advocacy across four key pillars: skills and education; trade and exports; standards and regulations; and the environment and circular economy. It has been developed over the past few months, the organisation says, evolving from a combination of position papers written by the associations’ executives and a comprehensive survey of their collective members.
Consumer card spending grew 1.0% year-on-year in February – lower than January’s 1.9% increase and less than the latest CPIH inflation rate of 3.9%, according to recent figures reported by Barclays. In anticipation of higher bills, consumers are said to be cutting back on essential outgoings, but still prioritising discretionary purchases, contributing to an uptick in optimism in the health of personal and household finances.
