Exploring 2024 colour trends

Colour remains a pivotal force in shaping the character of our living spaces. Paint brands and colour trend forecasters have a strong influence on the colour landscape, so we start the year by exploring how the colour selections from Pantone, Lick Paint Company, and Dulux are subtly shaping the flooring scene for the year ahead.
Pantone, the world’s leading authority on colour trends has named Peach Fuzz as the Colour of the Year for 2024. The introduction marks the 25th anniversary of the Colour of The Year initiative and comes at a time when the need for nurturing, empathy and compassion grows ever stronger as does our desire for a more peaceful world.
It's a versatile and soothing hue, bringing warmth without overpowering a space. A delicate fusion of warmth and subtlety, Peach Fuzz brings a sense of tranquillity to spaces, transcending mere aesthetics to evoke a mood of comfort and harmony.
“Peach Fuzz brings a sense of tranquillity to spaces, transcending mere aesthetics to evoke a mood of comfort and harmony.”

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute explains,
“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness
and connection, we chose a colour radiant with warmth and
modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion,
offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the
youthful with the timeless”.
For 21 years, the
Dulux Colour of the Year has been decided based on extensive trends research conducted by Dulux colour experts and international design professionals. Dulux’s Colour of the Year for 2024 reflects people’s need for simplicity, meaning and a sense of belonging, whatever the environment. Named Sweet Embrace for its delicate, welcoming and soothing qualities, the colour is a delicate, optimistic and modern tone that brings a sense of stability and softness to a space. To complement Sweet Embrace, Dulux is also launching three versatile colour palettes to provide architects, specifiers and designers with a wealth of colour inspiration when creating beautiful spaces in any sector.

Launched in March 2020, the Lick Paint Company went from lockdown setback to the multimillion-pound business it is today, all thanks to its customer centric approach. Lick aren’t predicting that one colour will be popular next year, but instead a shift towards colours with warm, yellow undertones.
“Decorators are bringing more warmth, energy and optimism
into their homes through yellow-based neutrals and brighter,
bolder shades.”
While they see that natural, earthy tones will continue to form the
anchor of interior colour palettes in 2024, they also anticipate that these will be paired with brighter, zestier, more uplifting colours, reflecting a new-found energy, optimism and desire to have fun with our interiors. Simultaneously grounding and uplifting, Lick’s 2024 colour palette combines warming neutrals with energising reds, zesty oranges, refreshing blues and revitalising greens. The result is a combination
of colours that will bring balance, harmony and undeniable joy into
your home.
Tash Bradley, Lick Director of
Interior Design and Colour Psychologist, said,
"The grey-on-grey era is over. Decorators are bringing more warmth, energy and optimism into their homes through yellow-based neutrals and brighter, bolder shades".

A carpet of colour and curiosity, Alternative’s Quirky Curiosity is a new richly patterned wool carpet, boldly coloured and intricate in nature. It joins Alternative’s award-winning collection created with their best-loved interior decorators, textile artists and design students. This design is by Aamina Desai (BA Hons Textiles Design, University of Central Lancashire) the winner of Alternative Flooring and British Wool’s competition. Desai brings her fresh interpretation of traditional Persian rugs to this decorative carpet with its floral motifs in joyful colours – crimson red, cerulean blue and earthy yellows on a warm natural ground riding the trend for mood boosting colour.
“We are delighted to showcase this winning design and make it available to purchase from our ‘Exclusive’ area of our website, allowing new textile design and opportunities to truly shine.”

Lorna Haigh creative and marketing director adds,
“The design is complex and intricate but due to pattern repeat is cleverly workable as wall-to-wall carpet, as a rug or runner. We are delighted to showcase this winning design and make it available to purchase from our ‘Exclusive’ area of our website, allowing new textile design and opportunities to truly shine.”
The serene green shade is having a moment, which
Harvey Maria
predicts will take us into 2024. Using green on the floor can complement an otherwise neutral decor - from pretty florals, Victorian inspired patterns to geometric designs, they have a fresh selection of green LVT.

“Harvey Maria is seeing their customers being more adventurous
with the colours that they choose for their flooring, which is then paired with one of their own ultra realistic natural effects.”
Floors that make a home more colourful are a great way to inject style and cosiness. Green has become a 'new neutral' when choosing paint for our projects and has replaced greys in many homes. Harvey Maria explains that it works in the same way when you use green on the floor, as well as your walls. Parquet Hunter Green, Walbrook Old Green and Dovetail French Clay are three designs that are currently trending.
Walbrook Old Green is the perfect choice for bringing a heritage feel to your home. When paired with blush, cream and putty colours, the deep, rich tone truly sings, and it works extremely well when paired with on-trend panelling and darker walls.
Harvey Maria is seeing their customers being more adventurous with the colours that they choose for their flooring, which is then paired with one of their own ultra realistic natural effects - such as their brand-new Croft Oak Collection which launches at the end of the month.

Across pastel tones like mushroom grey, lavender and pistachio to richer tones like burgundy, rust, dark pink, blue and dark green, homes are celebrating a bold and confident approach.
