Greendale Carpets: “More than just a buying group”
Greendale Carpets are the longest established buying group in the UK, having been formed in 1962. The group is a member owned cooperative run on a not-for-profit basis with any surplus at the end of the financial year being put back into the group for the sole benefit of the member.

“It’s quite straightforward” says Eamonn Prescott, Chief Executive of Greendale, “everything we do at the group, every decision we make, is always done with one question, how does it benefit our members. By taking this approach throughout our history, we have separated ourselves from the other groups, by being the first with rebranding, the first with our own warehouse, the first with our own transport and now the first with our own dedicated Interior Design brand.”
iD – Interior Design by Greendale will once again feature at the INDX Show. It was soft launched at the show last year, before becoming fully available at Harrogate.
“iD 2.0 is now available. Another three suppliers have put forward ranges for the group and these will only be available to our members under the iD brand,” said Latona Potter, Marketing Manager at Greendale. “The brand continues to grow and we are already seeing a demand for more sample boxes from our members.”
Greendale are more than just a buying group though. Over the last twelve months, they have donated carpets with a retail value of more than £50,000 to charities such as The Salvation Army and ‘No Floor No More’.
“Our reuse, recycle and upcycle projects are very important to us and our members,” says Potter. “We want to help out those less fortunate and help to eradicate flooring poverty within the UK.”
