“Hallway’s have played a very different role of late,” explains Stella Coyle, national retail sales manager of
Karndean Designflooring.

She said: “The increased time spent at home during the pandemic and the current role of the home as a home hub and sanctuary space has left many of us looking to cosy, natural hues as opposed to bold and statement patterns.

“When we are able to welcome loved ones and visitor’s back into our homes, we want to grace them with a softer welcoming to ensure they feel at ease and safe. Cosy living has become a strong theme in interiors, and we expect to see more demand for soft, warm and natural wood designs in hallways and entranceways going forward.

“Instead of geometric patterns, we will see more sophisticated parquet flooring which brings a guaranteed sense of elegance.

“Now available in a new Van Gogh rigid core format, herringbone hallways can be achieved in less time even when faced with challenging subfloors.”
Karndean’s popular Van Gogh collection has recently introduced a flexible multi-format approach with full length plank designs available in both a rigid core and gluedown fitting format. This includes four new small plank herringbone designs (28” x 7) - Grey Brushed Oak, Warm Brushed Oak, Golden Brushed Oak and Salvaged Barnwood – available in a mix of warm wood and cool grey tones.

First impressions matter and as hallways are frequently one of the busiest areas of the home, a durable and easy to clean flooring solution is essential. Investing in LVT flooring is a long-term choice which a customer can reap the benefits from for years to come.

Moduleo LVT responds extremely well to wear and tear and is also almost effortless to clean, making it an exceptionally low maintenance floorcovering. Available in both wooden and stone finishes, it is designed to be hardwearing without sacrificing aesthetics, thanks to its multi-layer technology.

Matthew Brook, national sales manager for IVC Group UK and Eire, said: “Hallways are often places which experience their fair share of traffic over time and can sometimes be a design afterthought when renovating a home.

“Moduleo floors are moisture-proof and scuff and stain resistant, whilst recreating the natural details and textures of wood and stone.
“Our Impress range is ideal for hallways because of the acoustic comfort it provides. LVT is resilient, so it reduces reflective walking and transmission sound to a very comfortable level – a valuable asset for hallways which withstand kids’ play and experience significant footfall over the years.”

A simple yet striking stair runner will completely elevate the entrance to your home and add a splash of personality, style and comfort to any hallway space.

With the increase in open plan interiors, you can often walk straight into a living area, so selecting the right flooring is even more vital.

It’s no secret that one of the biggest issues facing the UK flooring industry is the shortage of skilled labour, and this is a problem that’s only likely to get worse as the older generation hangs up its tools and finds fewer and fewer young hands willing to take up the trade. While the overall declining interest in practical trades is a matter to be addressed by all stakeholders – particularly at a Government level – flooring manufacturers and specialised training outfits have long been playing their parts to raise standards within the industry.
